Troublesome Trailers

I've gone on the record many times about the fact that X-Men Days of Future Past is my favourite Superhero movie of all time and I think part of what made it so special for me was the fact that I avoided all spoilers and trailers for it, managing somehow to go into it completely devoid of any idea as to what was going to happen in the movie.

Next year of course we get the next film in the franchise in the form of X-Men Apocalypse which I have been stoked for ever since the post credits stings at the end of DOFP. It's still a long way off but it is for me the one must see film of 2016, closely followed by Deadpool but thats for a whole slew of different reasons.

That said I did break my cardinal rule as regards movie trailers earlier today. My usual stance is that if it is a film that I HAVE to watch in the cinema than I will do everything I can to avoid the trailer like the plague but if its merely a film that I will watch when I get the chance but have no real level of excitement for then the trailer is fair game. It is using this logic that allowed me to watch the trailers for both Civil War and Dawn of Justice as my excitement levels for both are middling to best (in the case of Batfleck vs Supevill my interest barely registers at all).

I don't know why I opted to watch the Apocalypse trailer but I have to admit that I kind of regret doing so if I'm being honest as whilst it was good it didn't really grab me the way I anticipated it would. For instance the Ash vs Evil Dead trailer hooked me and reeled me in from the word go whereas Apocalypse merely warmed me up for what I hope the film will be.

So will I watch any further trailers for this movie? Probably not as I want to go into it as cold as possible so I will now be doing my level best to avoid all information about this film as if my life depended on it. I just hope that Mr Singer and Co don't let me down though anything that isn't Dawn of Justice or Ghostbusters already has alot going for it in my book.
